I am a miracle. How often do we pause and think about this during a day, or throughout our lifetime? Imagine all of the systems within the body that function and interact perfectly to sustain you, alive: breathing, feeling, reading, thinking at this very moment. Going back to the beginning, consider all of the processes that worked together perfectly from conception to birth. Existence is a miracle of perfection; our daily experiences and the type of living we engage in becomes icing on an already iced cake.
I was fortunate to visit with friends this month, a mini-reunion of strong creators formed during last year’s Egypt adventure. It was thrilling to see how we have grown during the year. This month’s inspiration is sparked by one of those friends, Jill Lankler, and her desire to remind us of a basic truth.
Jill creates beautiful buttons with peaceful pictures and the words, “You Are A Miracle.” Understanding how our minds work, she realized that as people notice and read her art, there is a part of the reader that reflects upon themselves being a miracle. When confronted by this bold, simple statement, there is a brief moment when we will allow ourselves to know and feel the truth before other thoughts kick in and crowd out that spark of wonder.
I witnessed just such an experience shortly after we selected our buttons at breakfast. We were at a local store, completely enamored with the creative, humorous “deep thoughts” on bars of soap. The shop owner explained that she and her daughter collaborate on the unique soaps designed for various personality types.
She spoke about how, after exhausting all paths for help for her daughter, she researched and created relief using different oils to alleviate her daughter’s debilitating anxiety and stress. This mother’s story of perseverance, determination and the ability to create and laugh was heartwarming. My friend handed her button to the mother, saying, “This is definitely for you.” With seven women enthusiastically nodding in agreement, she read it and burst into tears.
Understanding truth is always on my mind. I feel it is less complicated than we try to make it in today’s world. In my experience, core truths appear as openings, relaxation of defenses, freedom, warmth, and alignment. At the heart of every encounter is the basic truth: we are all deserving of love, no matter whether we are the recipient or the catalyst for loving others.
How we express, share, and receive our unique love is the miracle. How many of you will to allow yourselves to feel that wonder and freedom today? Will you open your heart and let an experience touch and move you? Begin early… the one in the mirror looking back at you is your first miracle of the day.
